West Metro Abandoned Building Fire

At 03:53 on July 21st, 2025 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 1400 block of Lamar St. in Lakewood. Engine 1 arrived to an working fire with smoke showing from a medium size one-story abandoned building and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 1 and Medic 11. Engine 1 established their own water supply and Engine 3 arrived and assigned to assist with the primary search. Engine 16 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 1. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy and Medic 16 as medical. Crews worked through lots of debris inside due to the building possibly being used as a shelter by several unhoused people. The fire was put under control at 04:27 and the cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported. The same building had a rekindle later on the same day and again on July 22nd, 2025.
