Strasburg Brush Fire
At 17:25 on June 30th, 2025 Strasburg Fire Protection District and Byers Fire Protection District were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the 2900 block of Wagner St. Callers reported a fire at the base of a power pole that was spreading and involving a fence. First arriving Chief 82 sized up a small brush fire spreading laterally along the fence line, The fire was located in a vacant lot that was overgrown with brush with exposures to three sides that were not immediately threatened. Crews made fast work in containing the fire and conducting thorough mop up. Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a bird that became energized on the pole top transformer that dropped into the dry brush below. CORE Electric responded to remove the remnants of the carcass in the transformer and effect repairs as needed on their equipment. Information and photos provided by Strasburg Fire Protection District
