Aurora East 17th Place Brush Fire
Aurora Large Brush Fire

On July 17th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded in the 15000 block of E. 17th Place around 13:30 after several people called 911 to report a large brush fire. When crews arrived on scene, they found a large, slow‑moving brush fire. Crews initiated fire attack on the south side and worked to stop forward progression. Crews had difficulty gaining access to the north side of the fire due to complex terrain. Crews utilized a river that was running next to the incident and drafted water into the North Division’s brush truck to help with water supply. During the incident, the wind increased and drastically sped up the rate at which the fire was spreading. Firefighters on scene quickly contained the rapid spread of fire. The incident was placed under control within 45 minutes of the initial 911 call. Crews spent over four hours conducting mop‑up operations to ensure the fire was completely out. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The incident is currently under a fire watch with two brush trucks monitoring the site along the Morrison Nature Open Space.
