Aurora Attic Fire
On March 20th, 2026 approximately 15:30 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to an possible residential structure fire in the 16000 block of E. Asbury Ave. Aurora 911 received numerous calls that two residences were on fire and the yard. Crews were responding to the scene reported a large plume of black smoke highly visible throughout the area and Engine 9 quickly upgraded the incident to a working fire. Engine 9 was first to arrive on scene and found heavy fire coming from the front of a two-story single-family home as well as the neighboring fence and boat in the driveway. Ladder 8 and Ladder 6 conducted a primary search of the residences which were negative. While Engine 9 was conducting a fast attack they discovered the fire had spread to the attic. Crews worked quickly to get water on the fire and to get it under control. Secondary searches of both residences were conducted and were negative. Crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes and no injuries occurred during the incident. The fire caused moderate extension to a neighboring home. A total of 7 residents between the two homes were displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time and no injures occurred.
