Aurora Fatal House Fire

At 21:53 on June 21st, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 12600 block of E. Bates Circle. A 911 caller reported to Aurora 911 that a fire was inside their home and also stated that a second resident who lives in the home was trapped inside and Battalion 5 requested a working fire response. Engine 11 arrived on scene to a working residential fire from a two-story single-family with smoke and flames showing from the garage and pulled a 1 3/4 for fast attack on the Charlie side. Engine 4 secured the water supply and assisted with fire attack. Battalion 5 arrived and assumed command and assigned Engine 6 went into the primary search. Firefighters encountered flames, high heat and heavy smoke while quickly controlling the fire. During the fire suppression operation one adult victim was located and determined to be deceased. Firefighters also located and rescued a dog that was transported to an animal hospital. All additional searches of the home were clear and no injuries occurred. The incident was placed under control at 22:21 and the resident who called 911 is displaced due to the damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the identity of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
