Aurora Garage Fire
On June 6th, 2026 around 17:00 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 18300 block of E. Cornell Place. Aurora 911 received 911 caller reporting smelling and seeing smoke coming from an attached two car garage. Firefighters observed smoke in the air while responding and found a working structure fire upon arrival. Crews entered the home, quickly controlled the fire, searched the structure and determined no one was inside. Firefighters prevented the flames from extending into the living space and the incident was placed under control 20-minutes after the initial 911 call. Two adult residents were evaluated by paramedics and did not require medical treatment. Due to the fire, smoke and water damage both residents are displaced. Investigators determined that a lithium-ion battery was charging inside the garage, overheated and started the fire. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
