Aurora Abandoned Structure Fire

At 17:05 on March 18th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 11000 block of E. Jewell Ave. First arriving Engine 11 was waved down by a witness who pointed out smoke coming from the eaves a boarded up single-story house. Firefighters forced entry inside with a hose line and quickly extinguished a small fire in the bathroom ceiling. All searches of the structure were clear and no injuries occurred. E. Jewell Ave. was closed for about an hour during the incident. Fire investigators determined the cause was accidental, related to an electrical malfunction.
