Aurora Commercial Fire
At 08:53 on April 28th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire at 13745 E. Mississippi Ave. at the former Citywide Bank building. Aurora911 received a single call reporting the side of a commercial building was on fire. Engine 4 arrived to a working fire from single-story boarded up commercial structure with smoke showing and started fast attack with 1 3/4 line and Ladder 8 started the primary search. Crews worked fire from the Charlie side of the building where flames were consuming the exterior siding and extending into the attic space. A second hose line was advanced inside the building and the main body of fire was quickly controlled. Additional crews searched the interior of the structure, conducted vertical ventilation to lift smoke and heat out of the building, and removed all the boards and windows. All searches of the building and surrounding area were clear. Crews remained on scene for approximately 90-minutes ensuring the fire was fully extinguished. AFR Fire Investigators determined the fire was accidental. An unattended warming fire under a roof overhang spread to the building. No injuries were reported.
