Aurora Working Structure Fire
At 14:04 on February 18th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire with Aurora 911 receiving multiple 911 callers reporting the fire near E. Montview Blvd. and N. Altura Blvd. A large plume of black smoke was widely visible as units responded and the incident was upgraded to a working structure fire. First arriving Engine 3 observed a large volume of fire consuming the delta side of a detached garage that also has two accessory dwelling units (ADUs) built in. Engine 3 advanced a 2.5″ attack line down the delta side driveway and began fire control. Water supply was established a E. 22nd Ave. and N. Alutra St. Ladder 5 was assigned to primary search and Battalion 1 assumed command. Battalion 2 was the incident safety officer; Engine 2 assisted with fire control and Ladder 2 conducted vertical ventilation. The fire was quickly controlled, and one adult victim was located during the search. They were transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died. No other injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is under investigation. 5 adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
