At 18:54 on February 18th, 2025 Aurora 911 dispatched Aurora Fire Rescue to a possible structure fire with 911 callers reporting flames from a second-floor apartment in the 2000 block of N. Fairplay St. First arriving Engine 5 confirmed there was a working fire in a triplex and advanced a line for fire control. Battalion 1 assumed command, Ladder 5 was assigned to primary search, Engine 12 and Engine 1 assisted with water supply and Battalion 2 was the incident safety officer. The fire was quickly placed under control; all searches were clear and crews prevented extension to neighboring units. No injuries occurred, but two adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Investigators determined this was an accidental appliance fire.
