A combination of warm afternoon temperatures, dry vegetation, low relative humidity and gusty winds resulted in a moderate to fast moving fire that spread east along I-70 toward Picadilly Rd. Firefighters used a combination of mobile attack with brush trucks and direct attack with hand tools, and stopped forward progress around 13:00 and the incident was under control by 14:00 The fire burned 8.5 acres with no structures threatened and no injuries occurred.
