Aurora House Fire
On January 14th, 2026 at 22:02 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 3000 block of S. Joplin Ct. Aurora 911 advised that caller reporting their house was on fire in one of the bedrooms. Engine 6 arrived to a two-story single-family residential with light smoke showing from the first floor and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and the call was upgraded to a working structure fire. Ladder 6 arrived and started the primary search, Engine 7 secured the water supply and Ladder 8 worked on outside vent. Engine 10 pulled a 2nd line in and Battalion 3 arrived and assumed command. Crews located the fire in a garden level bedroom which was quickly put under control. All primary and secondary searches of the residence were negative and no injuries were reported. There was moderate damage to the bedroom with no extension into the rest of the residence. The American Red Cross was called to assist the five occupants who were displaced. The fire was determined to be an accidental fire, relating to an electrical problem. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
