Aurora House Fire

Around 09:30 on April 1st, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported house fire in the 600 block of S. Potomac Way. Upon arrival, Engine 4 observed light smoke showing from the front of a tri-level home, upgraded the incident to a working structure fire, and advanced a hose line inside for fire attack. A utility room fire was quickly located and extinguished, and all searches of the home were clear. No injuries occurred and firefighters reunited three cats and two dogs with their humans. Two adults, four children and the family pets were displaced because of the fire. Investigators determined the fire was accidental, related to an electrical failure in the furnace.
