Aurora House Fire

Around 20:00 on July 26th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a reported house fire in the 2600 block of S. Troy Court. The resident heard a loud noise, smelled smoke inside the home, but was unable to locate the source. When the smoke alarms activated and conditions worsened, the occupant evacuated and observed smoke coming from the roof vents. Engine 7 reported heavy smoke in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, crews advanced a hose line to control the fire. Additional companies quickly arrived, searched the home, established a water supply, and accessed the roof. Firefighters located high heat and charred trusses in the attic. Extensive overhaul was required to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. All searches of the home were clear, and no injuries were reported. However, two adults were displaced due to significant damage inside the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
