West Metro Vegetation Fire

On July 20th, 2026 at 14:02 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a vegetation fire on S. Kipling St. at W. Hampden Ave. in Lakewood. Upon arrival, crews encountered a small, slow moving vegetation fire, located at the intersection of South Kipling Street @ West Hampden Avenue, in Lakewood. Crews quickly knocked the flames down and were cleared at 14:27. Xcel Energy was also on scene and stated that overhead arcing wires had caused sparks, which ignited the dry grass below.
