Thornton Washington Street Fire

Around 13:00 on February 26th, 2026 Thornton Fire Department, North Metro Fire Rescue District and Westminster Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at the Adams 12 FutureForward at Washington Square Campus, 12521 Washington St. in Thornton, the same building that houses their fire science/EMT program along with other tech training. The fire was found in the exhaust vacuums system in the welding shop. Truck 74 arrived first and crews work in dismantling the storage part of the system to remove any produce that was smoldering. A 1 3/4 line was pulled as a precaution and Truck 62 checked the roof via Truck 74 stick. The fire was put under control and crews worked on overhaul.
