On April 18th, 2026 just after 22:00 Weld County Regional Communications Center dispatched Mountain View Fire Rescue to structure fire near the intersection of Weld County Rd. 5 and Weld County Rd. 12 just north of Erie. Upon arrival, Truck 206 found a large home heavily involved in flames. Due to rapid fire spread and safety concerns, the firefighters went defensive. Weld County Rd. 5 was closed until about 05:00 on April 19th, 2026 because fire equipment needed to use the roadway. Despite the crews best efforts, and hours battling the flames, the home is a total loss. The cause is under investigation. Additional information provided by Mountain View Fire Rescue
