Station 1 Open House

On July 18th, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue held an open house at Station 1, 6401 W. 14th Ave. in Lakewood. The local community came out to tour the station, explore the fire engines, meet up with the firefighters and learn more about the people who respond when you call 911. Station 1 was built in 1975 and is the former Lakewood Fire Department. The WMFR open houses also help to show how much the coasts are for the department from the turnout gear and SCBA to radios, helmets, tools, and all the other equipment they rely on every day including training, outfitting a single West Metro firefighter costs nearly $50,000. It’s one of the biggest behind-the-scenes investments they make-before a firefighter ever responds to a single call. Like everything else, the cost of this lifesaving equipment continues to rise.
