Chief Payne Memorial

James “Jim” Payne funeral service was held at the Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada on August 28th, 2008. Jim passed away on August 26th, 2008 after a fall from a ladder at his home when he was trimming a tree, he was in critical condition and in a medically induced coma. Jim devoted his life to his family and his fire career, first as a volunteer firefighter, and as the fire chief. Jim was the first paid fire chief for the What Ridge Fire Protection District, since 2004 and part of the fire department for over 14 years. A large procession was held after the funeral to the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
