Wind-Driven Wildland Fire

On January 7th, 2009 crews were alerted of two fires that started when power lines were blown down by high winds. Crews responded to the first fire at N. 45th St. & Neva Rd. and the 2nd one west of Hwy. 36 near Olde Stage Rd. The fire burned two home, and three large barns, threatened many residences in the area. The Old Stage fire burned north and east towards Joder Ranch and Crestview Estates. The fire jumped Hwy. 36 in several places and merged with the Neva Rd. fire, which burned towards Lake Valley Estates and North Rim, and south towards the Dakota Ridge subdivision.
