On August 7th, 2010 at approximately 08:30 Lifeguards and Rangers at the Cherry Creek State Park responded to assist a distressed swimmer about 150 yards offshore from the west swim beach. Several hundred swimmers were in the water as part of the annual Tri for the Cure Women’s Triathlon. A lifeguard was able to reach the swimmer and assist her into a Colorado State Park Rangers boat. Rangers transported the swimmer to the shore where she was treated by an ambulance crew from Rural Metro. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office was also on scene.
