2nd Alarm Fatal House Fire

At 23:11 on August 20th, 2012 Poudre Fire Authority responded to a reported structure fire at 2620 Lodi Court in Fort Collins. First due Engine 4 arrived on scene to a two-story, wood-frame, single-family dwelling, with some smoke showing.  Tower 1 began a primary search but was hindered due to the large amount of material on the interior of the structure. Crews located and removed one victim who was turned over to medics who treated and transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Engine 4 and Engine 2 pulled attack lines to the Charlie side of the structure and located fire in the living room. Command advised dispatch to strike a 2nd alarm and another medic to the scene.  Crews established vertical ventilation. Command advised Engine 5 to pull a third 1 3/4 “ line to the front door. Crews had a difficult time with search and fire attack due to all the material throughout the structure. Firefighters were able to contain the fire mostly to the living room however there was smoke damage throughout. The victim was later flown to University of Colorado Hospital in Denver but succumbed to her injuries. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority.
