Waldo Canyon Fire

The Waldo Canyon Fire started as a reported brush fire around 12:00 on June 23rd, 2012 in the Pike National Forest. The fire burned 18,247 acres, over 340 structures destroyed in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood in Colorado Springs with evacuations of tens of thousands. The fire claimed 2 fatalities. The fire was reported to be started from a fire that was not put out, and smoldered before spreading. The fire was declared 100% contained on July 10th, 2012 and was the most devastating fire in Colorado history.
