Arvada Garage Fire

Around 10:00 on August 31st, 2013 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a garage on fire in the 64oo block of Iris Way. Medic 53 arrived to heavy smoke showing with no fire visible, Battalion 51 arrived and assume command and confirmed a working fire. Engine 52 arrived and established a water supply and advanced a attack line inside for fire attack and primary search. Safety 51 completed a 360 and reported smoke coming from the eves on the Charlie side. Engine 51 pulled a second line into the garage where flames started showing, Truck 54 assigned to split crews into truck for search, squad for outside ventilation and utilities. Crews knocked the main body of fire in the garage attic, and Engine 52 started pulling ceiling inside the home and found flames in the attic which were quickly knocked down. Command declared the fire under control at 10:25 and fire out 10:42. The home suffered significant fire and smoke damage and crews started an extended overhaul. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
