Air Force Academy Fire & Emergency Services at the U.S. Air Force Academy held an open house at Station 1 on August 16th, 2014. Community members from across the base enjoyed lunch, met with firefighters, toured the station, checked out the apparatus, obtained safety information and learned more about the department. Firefighters conducted a vehicle extrication demonstration and showed off the capabilities of Crash 19, their Oshkosh Stryker ARFF unit. The United States Forest Service, AFA Security Forces, Rocky Mountain Mobile Medical and the AFA’s Falconry Program also participated in the event. The department staffs three full-time fire stations on the Air Force Academy, and may staff up to five as mission requirements dictate.
