Arvada Double House Fire

On October 18th, 2015 at 10:31 Arvada Fire Protection District was alerted to a residential structure fire in the 110121 of W. 70th Dr. with multiple 911 calls. While responding Engine 53 reported heavy smoke showing from W. 72nd Ave. & Kipling St. and Engine 57 advised a smoke plume from Station 57. Engine 53 arrived to a medium size split-level residential structure with a working fire on the Alpha and Delta side both interior and exterior. Engine 53 pulled a 2 1/2 line in for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command, and advised that heavy fire from the Bravo & Charlie side with two houses on fire in 10121 & 10141. Engine 55 arrived and pulled an additional line off Engine 53. Truck 56 split into truck & squad for search and utilities, and Squad 56 preformed a primary search in the 10121 structure, Rescue 54 assigned to primary search in 10141. All searched were negative in both structures. Crews worked two sheds that were fully involved between both structures that extended into both homes, and extension into the attic was found at 10141. Medic 57 arrived and set-up at medical rehab. The fire was placed under control at 11:14 and crews worked an extended overhaul on both structures. The cause is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
