The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge conducted a controlled burn on March 28th, 2015. Firefighters from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service planned to burn less than one square acre to invigorate the growth of prairie vegetation, control weeks and reduce the risk of wildfires. Firefighters from Brighton Fire Rescue District and the U.S. Forest Service assisted with the burn.
