West Metro House Fire

At 18:00 on June 25th, 2016 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 5 & Engine 6 was dispatched to a smoke investigation in the area of W. 18th Ave. & Alkire St. in Applewood. While enroute dispatch upgraded the call to a reported residential structure fire at 1855 Alkire St. Engine 5 arrived to a single-story single-family residential with smoke showing from the roof vents, and a confirmed working structure fire response was requested. Engine secured their own water supply from Zinnia Ct. Medic 5 assisted Engine 5 with fire attack, and Tower 2 was assigned to utilities and roof ops. Engine 2 pulled a back-up line from Engine 5 to the Alpha side basement. District 1 arrived and assumed command and assigned Engine 3 to RIT. Crews got the fire under control within 20 minutes and then started overhaul. No injuries and the cause is unknown.
