Arvada House Fire
On April 4th, 2016 at 08:22 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 6500 block of Upham St. Medic 54 arrived to smoke showing from the Alpha side front door. Rescue 54 arrived and followed up with heavy smoke showing from a single-story single-family residential structure, pulled a 1 3/4 line in on tank water for quick attack in the offensive strategy. Battalion 51 arrived a took over command, and assigned Engine 55 to pull an additional line off Rescue 54 for fire attack and established a water supply. Engine 51 arrived and started primary search. Crews advised inside that the floor was falling in, and command requested from dispatch for egress tone for evacuation of the structure, and with defensive strategy. After the fire was darkened, the strategy was changed back to offensive. Rescue 54 took over the primary search and Engine 51 pulled 1 3/4 in for fire attack in the basement. Crews were able to get the fire under control and out at 08:51. One occupant was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries. The fire cause is under investigation.
