Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

The annual Broomfield 9/11 Memorial Ceremony was held on September 11th, 2016 at the Broomfield Amphitheater, and hosted by North Metro Fire Rescue District, Broomfield Police Department and the City and County of Broomfield. Over 300 attended the ceremony to hear the guest speakers that included the Cathy Faughnan, and their two children Siena and Liam, spoke publicly about Chris Faughnan, a loving Father and Husband, who died at age 37 in the Twin Towers. Chris Faughnan, worked on the 105th floor of the North Tower, right above were the planes impact was into the building. Guest speaker Fred Mahe talked about how he was late to work the day when the towers were hit, he talked about a photo that was taken of him at a wedding in Colorado that was sitting on his desk. Many days after the attack, a group of women pulled the photo from the rubble, and later it was given to a woman from Boston who wanted to know who was the owner of the photo, which a Twitter post reached Mahe 13 years later and he was reunited with the photo.
