The Denver Fire Department celebrated its 150th anniversary at the Denver Firefighters Museum on May 21st, 2016.  The community was invited to check out apparatus, visit the smoke house, tour the museum and enjoy cake. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock issued a proclamation commemorating the department’s anniversary and the department’s Honor Guard retired the museum’s flag and installed one that had previously flown over the United States Capitol.

On March 25, 1866, the Volunteer Hook and Ladder Company organized the first fire company in the Colorado Territory. Today, DFD has over 1000 members serving those residing, working, and visiting Denver, Glendale, Englewood, Sheridan and the Skyline Fire Protection District.
