West Metro Garage Fire
At 17:52 on August 9th, 2016 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a structure fire in the 12200 block of W. Mexico Ave. in Lakewood. Crews arrived to a medium size single family structure with a fully involved garage and two vehicles also on fire in the driveway. Engine 8 arrived and pulled a 2 1/2 line in for fire attack, and District 2 arrived and assumed command. The Delta 1 exposure became involved with a possible party trapped in the basement. Engine 4 established a water supply with Medic 4, Engine 8 reported power lines down in the back, and Xcel was called to the scene. SAM 1 advised that the walkout basement was fully involved which prompted Command to declare a defensive fire at 18:05. Crews found a victim on the Charlie side of the structure and another party that needed medical care, and two additional medics were requested. The fire was reported out at 18:38, and one family pet was rescued in the basement. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.
