Wheat Ridge Vegetation Fire

At 15:53 on October 2nd, 2016 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported brush fire at W. 32nd Ave. & Youngfield St. First due Engine 17 arrived to fire burning in a grassy area, 300 yards northwest of the La Quinta Inn. Engine 5 arrived and set-up on W. 33rd Ave. & Alkire Ct. for structure protection, and pulled a line in for fire attack. Engine 16 set-up at the La Quinta parking lot with Engine 17 for personnel. Brush 17 set-up on the west side of the fire off the Youngfield Service Rd. with Engine 6 and Brush 6. District 1 arrived and assumed command, crews got the fire out at 16:30 and continued working on hot sports. The fire is under investigation.
