West Metro Brush Fire

At 13:26 on September 27th, 2016 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a small brush fire in the area of S. Kipling St. & Hwy. 285 with 911 callers advising that a 30 x 12 area was burning. SAM 1 1 retorted a large smoke plume in the air from Morrison Rd. and the call was upgraded to a large brush fire. Engine 10 arrived on scene at Hwy. 295 & Simms St. with a 2 acre grass fire and began fire attack with Engine 9.  Engine 12 arrived and set-up at the Homestead Golf Course which was evacuated, SAM 1 requested westbound Hwy. 285 to be closed. Crews got a good knock on the fire which was estimated to be 12.6 acres with no structures damage, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
