Wheat Ridge Attic Fire

At 07:38 on April 17th, 2016 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 4400 block of Carr St. in Wheat Ridge. Medic 16 arrived to a small single-story residential with a walk out basement, and working fire conditions in the offensive strategy. District 1 arrived and assumed command, upgraded the call to a confirmed response. Engine 16 arrived and pulled a 1 3/4 line in on the Alpha side for fire control and primary search. Engine 17 secured a water supply to Engine 16, and pulled a back-up line off Engine 16 to the Alpha side. Medic 16 completed a primary search in the basement and assisted Engine 16 with fire attack. Medic 1 assigned as medical, Engine 2 as RIT and Tower 2 as roof ops. Engine 16 reported a working attic fire, and an all clear on the structure. Tower 2 split crews and coordinated vertical ventilation. Crews got the fire under control in the attic within 28 minutes. Firefighters worked in a heavy snow storm with 14 inches falling by the evening. No injuries reported and the cause is under investigation.
