Arvada Apartment Fire

November 27th, 2017 ~ At 14:25 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire at 6451 Ward Rd. Medic 56 enroute advising smoke in the air from 64th Ave. & Simms St. Medic 56 arrived on scene to a working fire from a multi-family structure. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command with 2 apartment units involved from the garage and living space in the offensive strategy. Tower 56 arrived and started a primary search of the adjacent units. Support 51 assigned as Safety and reported fire showing from the second floor. Engine 55 secured a water supply with a 5 inch to Tower 56. Engine 58 secured a water supply on Ward Rd. and pulled a hand line off Tower 56 for defensive attack on the fire. Engine 53 arrived and assisted Tower 56 and Engine 55 on the Alpha side, and pulled a hand line in. Command requested the Ghost engine to the scene, and Engine 57 arrived and was assigned to pull 1 ¾ line off Tower 56 to the Bravo side and check for extension. Command request for the next Ghost to the scene, Engine 52 arrived and was assigned to the Delta side. An all clear and the fire was put under control from Command at 14:55. Crews worked an extended overhaul on the fire and the fire is under investigation with no reported injuries.
