Around 21:30 on May 31st, 2017 Littleton Fire Rescue Ladder 12 was dispatched to a public assist / water problem at 6800 S. Penrose Court. The RP reported water leaking from the ceiling and electrical issues. An automatic alarm was also received. When Ladder 12 arrived they found a small, single story care home with smoke showing from the eaves. A first alarm and additional medic units were requested; Ladder 12 assumed command in the offensive strategy and began evacuation and primary search. The 360 revealed a standard basement and a working fire in the attic. 7 elderly residents and 1 caretaker were safely moved across the street where Medic 11 was assigned as the Medical Branch. Engine 15 secured a water supply and began an interior attack with Ladder 12, Engine 11 and Engine 14. Battalion Chief 32 assumed incident command with Battalion 1 assisting, SAM 10 and Safety 31 were assigned as safety officers. Engine 38 staged at a second water supply and Medic 37 assisted with opening up the exterior. Fire self vented through the roof and was quickly controlled. All searches proved negative and no injuries occurred.
