Littleton House Fire

At 01:32 on April 13th, 2017 Littleton Fire Rescue Engine 13 was dispatched to an outside fire near the 6800 block of South Platte Canyon Road. Upon arrival in the area a large amount of fire was visible in the Polo Run Community, prompting a full 1st Alarm dispatch. After searching through the neighborhood streets Engine 13 found heavy fire showing from a house at 11 Hunter Run Lane. Engine 13 laid in from the hydrant at the end of the driveway and advanced a 2 ½” attack line for transitional attack. The 360 revealed fully engulfed attached garage with extension into the home. Medic 13 paired up with Engine 13 and Engine 11 advanced a back up line. Battalion Chief 1 assumed command and SAM10 was assigned as the incident safety officer. Companies made entry through the alpha side front door and were faced with heavy smoke to the floor and flames rolling across the ceiling. Firefighters stopped further extension into the house and continued to battle the fully engulfed garage, which was being fueled by a natural gas line. Xcel Energy was called to clamp the line in the street and the incident was quickly placed under control. Firefighters remained on scene through the morning overhauling and an investigator was called to the scene.
