Rocky Pitch Rx Burn

The US Forest Service conducted a prescribed burn on October 18th to October 19th, 2017 in the Uncompahgre National Forest Rocky Pitch Area SE of Grand Junction. Agencies involved burned throughout the day in the different units. The burn was made possible by USFS Grand Junction, Gunnison, Craig, Collbran, and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office WFT. The goal of the burn was to remove dense vegetation and create a healthier environment. Both burns finished by 1800 hours and a crew was put in place on the third day for afterburn over watch.
