Arvada Vance Street Garage Fire

At 22:33 on January 1st, 2018 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a garage fire at 6216 Vance St. Dispatch advising that the 911 caller has children unaccounted for. Engine 51 showing flames in the air from Wadsworth (121) & Ralston Rd. Rescue 54 arrived to single family structure with a detached garage in the rear of the home with flames showing, and stretched a 2 ½” for fire attack. Medic 51 established a water supply to Rescue 54, and Engine 51 arrived and started to get the garage door open. Crews found propane tanks on the side of the garage, which they cooled down. Battalion 51 / Support 51 arrived and assumed command, with defensive operations. Engine 53 arrived, and assigned to the Alpha side. Crews got the fire under control at 22:49 and the fire was put out at 22:53. Crews worked an extended overhaul with fire watch throughout the night. No reported injuries and the fire is under investigation.
