Arvada Fatal Basement Fire
At 02:49 on July 27th, 2018 Arvada Fire Protection District Truck 56 responded to an outside smoke investigation in the area of W. 63rd Ave & Brooks Dr. Truck 56 arrived in the area and advised of a first full alarm structure fire in the 10100 block of W. 64th Ave, and sized-up with a single story residential structure with smoke showing from the attic. Truck 56 pulled a 1 3/4 line in for search and fire control in the offensive strategy. Engine 52 established a water supply to Truck 56 and Engine 51 arrived, pulled a second line in and assisted with search. Battalion 51 and Battalion 52 arrived on scene, and Battalion 52 assumed command with a basement fire. Crews pulled a victim out of the structure to the front door for medical, and Command request additional medic to the scene. Crews found a second victim in the basement, and a third medic was requested. Fire was put under control at 03:41, crews started an extended overhaul and the fire is under investigation. One patient was transported to a local hospital and did not make it, and the second patient was pronounced on scene.
