Berthoud Residential Structure Fire
At 19:18 on October 20th, 2018 Loveland Emergency Communications Center (LECC) dispatched Berthoud Fire Protection District with auto-aide from Loveland Fire Rescue Authority to a residential structure fire at the 4700 block of Karen Ct in Berthoud. Engine 2 arrived on scene to a small single story residential with half the structure fully involved, defensive fire conditions and request a 2nd Alarm. Engine 1 arrived and established a water supply to Engine 2. Engine 1 advised heavy involvement in the Delta and Charlie side with defensive strategy, fire had vented through the garage roof and extended into the attic above the residence . Loveland Engine 1 arrived and pulled a second line off Engine 2 for fire attack and Engine 3 pulled a third line off Engine 2. Crews got control of the fire and was able to extinguished the fire. Crews started an extended overhaul and worked on remaining hot spots. No injuries were reported, except for the a family dog which did escape with some smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is currently under investigation. Loveland Engine 6 covered the Berthoud district.
