Denver 3rd Alarm Fire

Just after noon on March 7th, 2018 Denver Fire Department was alerted to a working commercial structure fire at 1833 N. Emerson St, with multiple 911 calls, and reports of possible parties jumping from floors. Engine 3 reporting smoke in the air and Truck 4 arrived to heavy fire showing, with possible parties trapped and started aerial ops . Chief 2 arrived and assumed command with a large fire in multiple floors in an open construction site, crews to set-up for tower operations. With heavy fire conditions command requested additional Engine and Truck. Multiple master streams were set-up, and crews worked with exposure protection to nearby buildings. Command requested to dispatch for a second alarm, and advised all units of a building collapse, and extension on the Alpha side of the structure. Denver Paramedics set-up Rehab at 18th Ave. and Ogden St. A third alarm was given by Command, and crews checked rooftops of other building for hot embers, 6 building rooftops had active fire. Crews worked into the night and the next day with hot spots, extended overhaul and searching for two unaccounted parties. One found dead inside, several injuries were reported including a firefighter. The Red Cross was called out for residents in the area that were evacuated, over 40 vehicles were damage including construction trucks and 3 Denver fire engines. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

3rd Alarm: Chief 5, Engine 21, Engine 19, Engine 15, Truck 8 & Truck 16
Additional Units: Engine 8, Tower 15, Engine 9, Tower 27, Engine 26, Engine 23, Engine 14, Engine 3, Engine 12, Engine 20, Rescue 2 & PIO
