Douglas County House Fire
At 15:43 on June 8th, 2018 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a house fire 8384 Feather Grass Court in Douglas County. Neighbors called 911 after seeing heavy black smoke and flames coming from the back of the home. First arriving Engine 42 and Medic 42 found heavy fire on the rear of the house extending into the attic of the 1stand 2ndfloors. 42’s observed a ceiling collapse inside the front door and stretched a 1.75” attack line through the garage for fire control and primary search. Battalion Chief 32 assumed command assisted by Battalion Chief 41 and Safety 33 assumed the incident safety officer role. Tower 45 went interior, Engine 44 secured a water supply and stretched a second 1.75” line to the charlie side. A 2.5” Blitzfire was placed on the front lawn as fire self vented through the roof but wasn’t needed as interior crews quickly knocked the main body of fire. Tower 35 opened up the delta side, 1stfloor attic space where active fire was found and extinguished. All searches proved negative, no injuries were reported and neighbors rescued the family dog and transported it to a local animal clinic for evaluation.
