Grand Junction Structure Fire
At 23:22 on August 2nd, 2018 Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a full structure fire response for a reported structure fire on the 600 block of North Ave. The caller described a wall on fire near the front door of the home. Truck 1 first due reported a small single story, single family residence, nothing showing from 2 sides with evacuation and called North Avenue Command. Engine 3 was second in and staged for the hydrant at 6th and North. Battalion 1 staged east on North Avenue. Ambulance 1 arrived and staged West on 6th Street. Captain 1 completed a 360, discovered a basement and reported nothing showing. Crew of Truck 1 took irons and cans to the front door. Captain 1 requested Truck 1 and 2nd Due Engine(E3) to be held on the assignment. Truck 1 found a small, few square feet of involved space on the alpha side. Command picked up Medic 1, Ambulance 1 and all incoming units. Crews verified that the fire had not spread using a thermal imaging camera after removing portions of the exterior wall. There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation.
