For approximately 10 hours on on August 13th, 2018 South Metro Fire Rescue assisted Greenwood Village Police Department with an incident inside the La Quinta Inn, located at Arapahoe Rd. and I-25. Throughout the day a Battalion Chief, Engine and Medic Unit were on stand-by for medical or fire needs and in the afternoon a Tower was special called to assist the police officers with contacting a person who needed help. South Metro’s Firefighters practiced aerial operations with the Officers from the safety of the opposite side of the building, and then went over a detailed plan of action before moving the Tower into position. A quick and well-coordinated effort between GVPD and SMFR resulted in the individual being safely removed from the building in custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation. SMFR regularly works with 8 different law enforcement agencies, partnerships that are vital to public safety.
