At 18:05 on July 3rd, 2018, Lands End Fire Protection District and The Mesa County Fire Marshal were dispatched to a smoke check in the area of 4250 Whitewater Creek Road at the bottom of the mesa. Brush 111 was first on scene and reported a multi acre wildland fire in moderate to heavy fuels. Engine 103 was second in and laid in an 1 1/2 Line. Engine 103 was backed up by Tender 111 for water supply. The fire was mapped at 4.8 acres on Bureau of Land Management land. Bureau of Land Management Fire assisted with 4 engines and a command officer. Mesa County Sheriff assisted with an engine, fire management officer, and a rural deputy.
