South Metro Apartment Fire

At 08:50 on October 20th, 2018 South Metro Fire Rescue Engine 61 & Engine 38 responded to a smoke alarm sounding at Woodhaven Apartments located at 2300 block of S. Quebec St. in Arapahoe County. Engine 61 arrival the crew was met by a resident who reported a possible fire on the 3rd floor and full structure fire response was dispatched. Engine 38 arrived and secured a water supply. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke inside one unit, quickly extinguished the flames and searched for people inside. No one was found in the apartment and the fire was contained to one room. Crews spent approximately 30 minutes confirming there were no hot spots and ventilating smoke. No injuries occurred and investigators determined the fire was an accident, caused by candles.
