Grand Junction Tree Fire

At approximately 17:30 on July 9th, 2019 Grand Junction Fire Department Truck 1 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to the area of Connected Lakes State Park on a reported tree fire. Battalion 1 was able to make access to the tree via 23 Rd. and E. Rd. trail-head. The tree was located within the black and had previously burned during the Riverview Fire on July 4th, 2019 and was smoldering internally with visible smoke. Battalion 1 remained on scene while waiting for Engine 5 to clear an active call to respond with Brush 5. Truck 1 went back in service during this time. Brush 5 responded to the scene at approximately 18:30 and was able to make direct access via the trail and handle the fire. The tree was cut down and the fire was extinguished.
