Around 15:00 on June 2nd 2019 Grand Junction Fire Department was called out to assist Grand Junction Police Department on a explosion investigation. Crews arrived and staged for a possible explosion inside a building at 1600 N. Ave. Police on scene discovered a suspicious backpack outside of a door of the building, and inside the building, they found a shotgun blast to the ceiling with damage. Bomb Squad was called to the scene, and rendered the suspicious items safe, with a controlled detonation. Fire crews stayed on scene until after 18:00 and no other injuries were reported.
